The North American Industry Groups database is based on Morningstar's proprietary Industry Groups classification system. The system is comprised of three macroeconomic sectors, 12 business segments, 91 industry groups and 213 industries. Each of the 213 industries may be broken out as a separate index with its own return calculation and ratios. Clients can select and view aggregate financial data by Sector, Segment or Industry, and can also find individual company data within a specific Industry Group for company-to-industry comparisons.
